Central Business District Advisory Committee

May 4, 2017 Minutes

Attendees: Councilman Ramon Hache, Michael Velicu, Kathryn Schmidt, Philip Davis, Gary Kolesaire, Lorraine Reynolds, Amy Borque

Absent: Bill Gilsenan, Gail McCarthy, Jane Shinozuka, Chief Luthke, Chris Rutihauser,

Minutes of the April CBDAC meeting were approved.

Web-site Implementation: Segment leaders have been meeting with John.  Ramon will work with the Village to provide a comprehensive list of all businesses in Ridgewood to cross reference with Chamber and Guild members.

Amy will arrange for Geri Abdoo to attend one of our meetings to share the kind of pictures she can provide for the web-site.

May 19 Party-in-the-Park will celebrate Ridgewood High School’s 125^th anniversary.

Garage Update: Ramon updated the group on The Pike Company’s presentation to the Village Council regarding an alternative design and price structure for the Hudson Street garage.

Employee Parking: Garry updated the group on his and Joan Groom’s meetings with local merchants regarding employee parking options at the Cottage Street lot.  Despite the work that has been done to communicate this, many merchants did not seem to know about this availability.

It was also noted that some Village Hall employees do not seem to know how to direct inquiries about the parking permits and therefore need to be trained.

All agreed that the next step is to step up enforcement through parking tickets. Ramon mentioned that ticketing is already up with 95% uncontested.

CBD enforcement regarding non-conforming signs and TV screens in windows may need to be rethought in lights of changing styles and marketing.   

Ideas for Village Events: Ramon asked members to think about ideas for events that the Village could encourage for discussion at our next meeting.
