August 10, 2017 Minutes
Attendees: Councilman Ramon Hache, Kathryn Schmidt, Philip Davis, Gary Kolesaire, Lorraine Reynolds, Amy Borque, Bill Gilsenan, Gail McCarthy, Captain Forest Lyons for Chief Luthke
Absent: Michael Velicu, Jane Shinozuka, Chris Rutihauser
Minutes of the July CBDAC meeting were approved.
Web-site Implementation: Segment leaders are asked to complete their sections and submit recommendations to the Advisory Committee for comment so we can move the process along.
Jeanne Johnson attended the meeting to discuss “Moving Forward Together,” a project to encourage walking in the community to generate more downtown foot traffic, get people talking to each other, and provide health benefits. Upcoming events include a kick-off panel discussion at the Library on September 26 from 7-9 in the evening followed by a month-long “Walktober” campaign in October. Jeanne asked for volunteers to help with these events. She can be reached at jeannehopejohnson@gmail.com or at 201-851-3262.
Gail volunteered to be the committee’s liaison for this initiative.
Jeanne also suggested that the village might want to look into "The Downtowner" an on demand ride sharing service.
Money has been allocated in the Village budget this year to benefit the CBD including resources for the website, plantings, tree well rehabilitation, and banners. Additional money may be forthcoming to finalize the park lighting project.
Parking Updates: The Village is talking to Pike Construction about the Hudson Street Garage and may move to declare the area a redevelopment zone. The Village is also in discussion and negotiations regarding the purchase of the Town Garage space.
Gary mentioned that their new web-site, tobaccoshop.com, is up and running!
The meeting was adjourned.
