Central Business District Advisory Committee (CBDAC)

 Minutes of September 8, 2022 Meeting[1]

Members present:  CBDAC held this meeting via Zoom.  Jordan Kaufman, Pamela Perron, Michael Pickholz, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke, Philip Davis, Glenn Carlough, Tom Hillmann, Anastasia Bamberg, Stephen Del Percio, Trish Manzo and Steve Aspero.

Guests present:  Paul Vagianos, Kathryn Schmidt, Jeanne Johnson.

Minutes:  Members present unanimously approved the minutes of the July 14, 2022 meeting.

Announcement:  Members and guests were informed that the latest edition of Ridgewood Living magazine contains an article by Kathryn Schmidt about Jordan Kaufman. 

Village Council Liaison Update: a) Pam advised that a vote on the Window Display Ordinance had been postponed by the Village Council to September 14, 2002.  b) The Village will be planting 88 new trees this Fall.  The Ridgewood Guild and the Girl Scouts will be providing 6 additional trees.  c) A new 15 Minute Parking Ordinance was proposed on September 7, 2022.  Public hearings will be held regarding the Ordinance on September 28, 2002.  d) Signature Cocktails’ application for an extension of its liquor license will be voted on by the Council on September 14, 2022.

Ridgewood Guild Liaison Update: Trish informed Members and Guests about the Guild’s upcoming Fall event schedule: Music Festival (September 9th), Oktoberfest (October 8th & 9th), Cash Mob (returning in November), and Winterfest (beginning Thanksgiving week in November).

Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Liaison Update: Phil informed Members and Guests about the Chamber’s upcoming Fall event schedule: Car Show (September 9th), Craft Fair (September 18th), October Sale Days (October 6th-9th), Halloween in The Park (Late October), and Downtown for the Holidays (December 6th). b) Phil also reported that Feed the Frontlines would be starting up again on September 19th.  Paul added that FTFL is looking for volunteer drivers to help with deliveries. 

Other Business:  Tunnel Committee – Pam and Jeanne conducted a walkthrough of the train station tunnel with representatives from Rossi Paints and Benjamin Moore.  The Benjamin Moore representative a) provided advice on applications, products and equipment that should be used for refreshing the facility, and b) stated that they were seeking feedback from upper level management regarding potential sponsorship of a renovation project.  Jeanne also spoke with the Ridgewood Arts Committee about their aiding in promoting the project to help find other potential sponsors and artists to paint murals.

Master Plan – Pam gave a summary of the draft Master Plan and its purpose.  The CBDAC was asked if it wanted to provide comments and/or advice on the most recent iteration of the Plan.  A discussion regarding what comments/recommendations to make and how to present the CBDAC’s feedback was held.  Members unanimously agreed that Steve would circulate a draft of notes to the Committee and Members could provide any additional input via email.  The Members also agreed that Jordan and Glenn would represent the CBDAC at the next meeting of the Planning Board, where they would present the comments/recommendations on behalf of the full Committee.

Next Meeting:  October 13, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom.
