Meeting Minutes Sept 21, 2017
The meeting was opened at 7:40pm.
Present: Ines Bunza, Susan Knudsen, Robin Ritter, Deanna Schablik, Janet Fricke, Amy Stoller, Tom Leonard, Jack Dean, Lauren Schechter, Lori Kislevitz, Joanne Stolfo
Item 1: Welcome
Ines welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced Tom Leonard.
Action Item: Approval of the August 2017 Meeting Minutes
- ACCESS Ridgewood Weekend
SCHOOLS: Amy Stoller reported that principals have received emails.
TEEN DANCE: Ines reported for Matthew Mandelli that the dance is confirmed. Matthew will send Ines a flyer asap. In the meantime, Ines will send an email with save the date to various groups. Dylan (IT person for VOR) will set up internet access for DJ Fred. ACCESS will give DJ Fred a $200 honorarium. Deanna Schablik confirmed cleaning services after the event. Valley Hospital will provide the funds to pay for pizza. Bottled water and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream (donated)will be available.
SENIOR EVENT: Deanna Schablik and Sheila Brogan have finalized their Fall Prevention Workshop. Parks and Rec will provide light refreshments.
FAMILY FUN and FAMILY CONCERT: Robin Ritter reported that Marcia Matthews and Jester Jim are confirmed. Friends of the Library will pay for Jester Jim and Magic Melodies (Marcia is a volunteer). Valley Hospital will pay for pizza; Van Dyks ice cream will donate ice cream. Magic Melodies (Chris Flynn) will perform a family friendly concert on Saturday.
COMMUNITY FAIR: Ines Bunza reported that Lisa Ertle (parent of Emily Ertle) is securing the bands. Lisa has confirmed her daughter Emily Ertle & friends and Jake Thistle. Joanne Stolfo will contact organizations regarding tables. Erica Dunckley and Janet Fricke have been in touch with numerous local food providers.
LIVE MUSIC & DANCE and FASHION SHOW: Ines reported that Karen Sheehy is all set with Sharing the Arts and others. Caroline Meier will send Robin a flyer for interested models which will be displayed at the library. Mayor Knudsen will follow up with Freeholders, County Executive and ask U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer to attend.
Item 2: Housing
Action Item follow-up: Susan Knudsen reported that The Enclave and KS Broad have pooled COA resources. The public hearing was postponed. A pedestrian study will be done for North Maple and Franklin Avenue. Mayor Knudsen will report back with updates.
Item 3: Employment
Action Item follow-up: Robin reported that per Susan’s suggestion, she contacted Councilman Ramon Hache with information regarding a Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). Councilman Hache forwarded the information to The Chamber of Commerce.
Item 4: New Business Susan suggested that we discuss ways to help parents to assist law enforcement, fire and EMTs when dealing with individuals on the spectrum. The group will look into bringing the Bergen County Sherriff’s Office back to registered participants with ID.
