20210318 - Ridgewood Access Committee Meeting Minutes

Ridgewood's Community ACCESS Committee
Meeting Minutes March 18, 2021

The meeting opened at 7:35 pm.
Present: Ines Bunza, Robin Ritter, Mayor Susan Knudsen, Deanna Schlabik, Lisa Gardner, Jan Philips, Joanne Stolfo, Elena Croy, Erica Dunckley
Item 1: Welcome
Ines welcomed everyone to the meeting. Minutes from the January 21 meeting were approved. Motion by Lisa, second by Robin and motion carried.
Item 2: Housing
Someone saw on Facebook last night that Carley (liaison between building owners and the Village) had posted that The Enclave will not be ready until the end of 2021. Susan said that she probably meant the independent housing section, not the supportive housing apts. in the former Sealfon's building. Susan goes to the UW site everyday to check for updates.
Item 3: Treasurer
Susan still has not received the $300 check from Freedom Bank. She will check on it. The check dated Jan. 25 was the most recent check.
Item 4: ACCESS Weekend
Everyone agreed to keep it on ZOOM. Although we missed experiencing it in person, a wonderful positive was that so many more people who are not local were able to participate, including international folks.
Deanna is interested in pursuing the topic of Preparedness and has planned a senior program for Friday. Ines reiterated saying that for the seniors at Ridgecrest, where the power often goes out, they need to be better prepared when these situations arise. She suggested blankets and asked what else we can do for them during these emergencies.
Regarding Friday night, Robin said that we'll come up with something for the adults. Sat. a.m. perhaps something in-person for the kids. The Fashion Show/entertainment will be virtual as that was so well-received around the world. Pastor Joanne's service will continue to be virtual.
Other ideas expressed were:
A birder has an adaptive birding program through the NJ Audubon Society.
Jan said that Rachel W. Lund, a wonderful artist, will participate.
Charles, the library tech will also participate.
Susan suggested for Friday night - a dance over ZOOM. Folks from Arthur Murray could run it. Lisa suggested a cooking class. Perhaps Stacy? Easy to do on ZOOM. Especially for the younger kids.
Deanna will speak to Katy Frey who runs the K-5 program.

Robin suggested that maybe the Red program, kids 3-5 grade would be interested too. Ines will speak to Elena about it.
Deanna suggested guitar lessons
Item 5: New Business
Susan said that we need to formalize our committee.
Joanne's daughter, Diana, will do a presentation on 3/21/21 for World Down Syndrome Day, organized by the Warren County Arc. Email is wdsd2021@arcwarren.org. FB page for Warren County. News 12NJ promoted it.
It was suggested that we invite the LSHSA to be involved again.
Meeting ended at 8:37.
The next meeting is April 15@7:30 via ZOOM.
