Ridgewood’s Community ACCESS Committee
Meeting Minutes September 29, 2022
The ZOOM meeting opened at 2:05 p.m.
Present: Ines Bunza, Robin Ritter, Mayor Susan Knudsen, Lisa Gardner, Deanna Schablik, Joanne Stolfo, Caroline Meier, Sarbhi Kapadia, Lauren Schechter.
Item 1: Welcome
Ines welcomed Sarbhi Kapadia to the meeting. Minutes from the July meeting motion by Joanne Stolfo, seconded by Deanna. Approved.
Item 2: Access Weekend
Ines reminded everyone that Access weekend is Oct 7-9.
Friday event: Deanna has a fun carnival experience entitled “Access to Fun”. Seniors will engage in games and have the opportunity to win prizes. The event is co-sponsored by Age Friendly Ridgewood.
Lauren mentioned that Camp Sunshine might have games that she can borrow. Robin indicated that RPL’s “Library of Things” has items to lend. Robin will give Deanna the link.
Saturday Morning Event: Robin reported that Marlene Pillow is all set for a concert @ 10:30.
Fashion Show/Entertainment: Caroline reported that she has 11 on-site models. The virtual video will be ready next week. The virtual video will have 1-3 pictures of models “striking a pose”. Sharing the Arts will also be included in the virtual video.
An 8th grade pianist will perform during the live portion. Caroline has some volunteers in addition to Nancy Reilly’s project interact students.
The Ridgewood Living Magazine is published. Susan will reach out to Kathryn Schmidt to see if she’ll have room for photos of the weekend.
Caroline will give Lauren the written script.
Ines clarified that the entertainment will start at 11:15 and will run until 12-12:15.
Susan mentioned that she would like to announce and have a “co-host” from the young adult special needs community. Caroline mentioned that she would like some teenagers that she knows from RHS could help to MC.
Robin mentioned that she’d like to work on the program at the beginning of the week. Models names will be as an insert. Susan indicated that Robin will get the info via email by Monday.
Saturday Music:Susan confirmed that Susan Marlett from Waldwick School of Rock will provide entertainment. Susan will check with Signal to bring a PA.
Saturday Food: Erica was out of town and reported to Robin and Ines that the following restaurants are confirmed:
Daily Treat, La Lanterna, Best of Everything, It’s Greek to Me (Paul V will also provide warming trays), Sombrero, Steel Wheel and Van Dyk’s. Burger King is still a possibility.
Susan contacted Ridgewood Water. Joanne S has followed up. Ridgewood Water probably won’t have water bottles. Deanna has the blue Access cups that may be used for water. Jesse Schwarzman will also assist until 1pm.
Deanna will have 1st floor VH doors open at 9am. Tables will be set up for buffet, eating and community fair.
Saturday Community Fair: Surbhi will have a table representing the Department of Health. Freedom Bank does not want a table this year.
Saturday Volunteers/Set up of Patio/Serve Food/Clean Up: Robin has been in touch with Nancy Reilly. Other committee members will supervise and assist.
Sunday Worship Service: Robin will follow up with Pastor Joanne regarding captioning during the service.
Item 3: New Business Lisa reported that Freedom Bank donated $500. Current balance is $4,493.44
Item 4: Old Buisness: Ines thanked Ashley Loria and Susan who attended the LSHSA parent fair on Sept 22. Ashley gave Ines 3 new parent contacts.
Item 5: Public Comment: Jesse Schwartzman indicated that he was happy to be able to attend this meeting. Jesse is willing to help on October 8th until 1pm.
The meeting ended at 3:04 p.m.
The next meeting is to be determined for early November via ZOOM.
