Danielle P/Health Department:

  • Marianny has begun her maternity leave.  The hiring of a temporary replacement is in the final stages.
  • On June 28, we held the pre-event before music under the stars officially began at 8:30.  It was great we gave out about 6 or 7 booster shots for kids and then connected with a lot of attendees.  We are so grateful for all in attendance and look forward to this Thursday’s event on 7/21/22!
  • We had our Balance and Thrive Event program this past Friday,7/10/22 and it went really well.  It was about 10 people in attendance. It was perceived really well and we will be doing this program again in the fall.
  • COVID-19 – Anything covid-19 related, please reach out to me by phone or email.  We highly encourage folks to get tested/ test at home if they start developing symptoms and/or they have been exposed.  Also, if you take a home test, and don’t get a lab test, we encourage individuals to report it to us so that we can report it to the state system.
  • NJ’S COVID-19 updated guidelines for camps were shared.  If you have questions about anything related to COVID, feel free to reach out/ direct folks to us.
  • We are monitoring the information that gets released regarding Monkey pox and it is mentioned in our meetings with the state.  If you or someone you know may have been in contact with someone who has monkey pox or suspected case, we encourage you to contact your healthcare provider.  NJ Department of Health is working closely with federal, state, and local public health and health care partners to identify possible cases, begin contact tracing quickly, provide vaccine and/or antiviral treatment as needed to cases and their contacts. NJDOH is also providing guidance to health care providers to help them identify possible cases, and get a proper diagnosis. If you or someone you know has questions, reach out to us.
  • Pesticides Flyer – getting calls about that – I am going to email to the group post meeting but is it on our Facebook
  • Our 2023 grant has officially begun.  In addition to COVID being a topic of interest, we will be focusing our work on other health issues as well (including Lyme, West Nile, STIs, Flu, Hepatitis B, and Monekypox).
  • Please contact me to collaborate on future events/ if you want us to table.  I will be reaching out as well to get programs/ events together to achieve deliverables we put in the grant for 2023.

  • Dawn:
  • Shared news regarding the ongoing, OPIOD settlement annual funding opportunity.  It is anticipated that the first installment will be approximately $8,900.  For year one, the focus will be on prevention, education, senior residences and senior populations, school aged and Narcan training and distribution
  •  Gabrielle:
  • Discussed the Instagram Live program that the Lukin Center is sponsoring on July 28th at 2pm for National Mental Health Awareness Month.  Everyone encouraged to join.  The event will have give-a-ways.
  • Jackie:

10/9/22- October PBA Food Truck Event, fundraiser for Child Cancer Research. Event will have education, games, and food trucks at Graydon North Lot.

Other upcoming fall events mentioned:  September car show and Guild Music Festival

Mary Davey:

  • Informed us that partial care clients at West Bergen have been back in-person to the facility starting on 7/11/22 with good success.  The program anticipates being back to full-time in-person effective 8/15/22

John T. Judge:

  • Medication Justification-mentioned that in the past Valley Hospital Mobile Health had a Medication Justification program where professionals worked with seniors to provide aware ness and review their medications.  Danielle stated that this program is currently not available, but that she would look into a speaker on this topic.
  • Operation Blue Angel- this program calls for a Lock Box grant.     The lockbox will contain a key to the residence (which the resident must supply).  This would be for 55+ residents that are alone or have a medical condition.  The key will only be accessed by responding police officers in the event of a true emergency where officers cannot access the residence. Consensus of the group was to obtain further information on the program from West Orange and Princeton.  Jackie sent an email to the Princeton Police Chief for further details.  Goal would be to make it free to seniors or self-funded, with only access from a police or fire official in the event of an emergency.  John to look into fire department grants.

Deanna:

  • Healthy Eating for Brain and Body will be offered through the Alzheimer’s Assn. on 8/23/22 at 10:30 a.m.  The Health Barn will be providing Black Bean Brownies and the Glen Rock Parks and Rec department will offer the use of their bus.  Registration is through Community Pass and there is no fee.
