October 5, Field Meeting

 

Attendees:  K. Cook, R. Brooks, M. Andreula, E. Seavers, J. Gluck, Z. Pace, P. Thomas, L. Scala, K. Hogan, B. Lasky, C. Kaufman, S. Cox, J. Torreli, N. Bigos, C. Kaufman, Bob B.(Aramark), A. Martin, P. Perron

  1. Approval of Minutes – September 14, 2021
    R. Brooks – recommended that future minutes should capture the names and addresses of commenters during “Public Comment” segment of meeting.

Motion to approve - all in favor.

 

  1. Public Comment


S. Winograd called in concerned about the cost of the field clean up. Schedler property is seven acres of open space that still cannot be utilized. If Schedler was developed, we could have used it during this time.

C. Kaufman – a possible committee may be created to work with the town, county and state on mitigating storm water damages.

 

  1. Soccer Minipitch – Joel T.


J. Torreli – a detailed proposal is required to determine exacts costs about excavation, service preparation and materials. Next step is to approach the B.O.E. for the mini pitch at BF Middle School.  Proposal will be sent to K. Cook.

 

  1. Damage/Hurricane Ida/Turf Fields/other fields and recreational areas

K. Cook – Stadium field and Stevens field are open, no contamination found. Dual application of disinfectant.  Priority is to get back to regular schedule on both fields. Aramark has had internal staff changes.

Bob B.- assured the committee that with the new staff changes there will be more attention to the fields.

C. Kaufman – suggested we look more into the bridge between Stevens and Stadium field.

R. Brooks – E. Ridgewood bridge is where the problem starts. This bridge supposed to be worked on next, stream needs to be widened.

N. Bigos – All vendor quotes have been submitted to the Village Council. Maple field cost will be $112,485.00 with Land Tek.  The green, natural grass at Vets field will be $22,146.80 with Monello LLC Landscaping. Fence amenities for both fields will be $9,250.00 with Anchor Fence. Quotes from Tri County were received for softball fields and baseball diamond.

M. Andreula – soccer fields on Vets are open. Temporary fence has been put up on Vets to prevent public access to south end field.

 

  1. Orchard School Field

K. Cook – Orchard will be closed for the remainder of the fall.  

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Fall Facility Maintenance/Storm Ida
  • Inventory/Return of equipment/Supplies
  • Repairs to goals

 

K. Cook – groups need to take inventory of equipment, supplies, goals.

  1. RHS Sports Schedule/Fall 2021

K. Cook – continuing the scheduling of games with the least amount of impact on all sports.

 

  1. Spectator Perception-Field Maintenance

 

K. Cook – addressing these issues that everyone is on the same page. BOE and VOR will be taking proactive measures when it comes to game, practice play, and scheduling requests moving forward.

 

  1. Veteran’s Field Lighting/Retrofit/Musco Lighting

N. Bigos – working with Signal and Musco. We received lighting design and quote for $575,000.00. It has been placed in the Capital budget for 2022 consideration.

 

  1. New Business

J. Gluck – lining of the fields at Somerville.
