Assistance with Canada Geese Nests on Your Property Through the Use of GeesePeace

The Village of Ridgewood recognizes that there is a great conflict with geese overpopulation in our area, and its effect on the quality of life of our residents. GeesePeace works to help control the rapidly increasing Canada geese population. Residents are encouraged to contact Health Officer, Dawn Cetrulo dcetrulo@ridgewoodnj.net or 201 670-5500 ext. 245 if you have a problem with the geese on your property and/or are interested in volunteering for GeesePeace work in the Village of Ridgewood.

The Village is working with the National GeesePeace organization which is dedicated to resolving this wildlife conflict humanely, by controlling the growing population in a sensitive and caring manner. GeesePeace is the only effective program which has the support of national animal protection and welfare organizations.  If they are not managed, resident Canada geese populations typically increase ten-fold every eight years. Our goal is to strike a sustainable balance between wildlife and the public. GeesePeace volunteers use a variety of methods to humanely encourage geese to return to their natural migration patterns. By working together to find the largest nest sites, communities will be able to reduce the population by thousands in the coming years.
