MARCH MINUTES

 

 

Date:                           March 22, 2022 – The Stable 7:30pm   

 

Attendance:                 Present:  Chair R. Brooks, F. Mortimer, L. Kloak, P. Vagianos, V. VanDyke, A. Chauvin

 

                                    Absent: D. Sayles, W. Ryker, M. Mahmoud

 

                                    Also Present: Director N. Bigos, Recreation Office Assistant D. Kat

Presentation -

Eagle Scout, Jack

Swartz:                        Jack Swartz presented his Eagle Scout project for Citizens Park. He is looking to bring more beauty to the park that he grew up going to. He is going to remove the logs that are rotting, refurbish the bike rack and the sitting bench. The town will replace the logs with a more protective barrier. There are six bushes behind the backstop, all shrubs to be removed and a new planting installed with assistance from Rohsler’s. Fundraising will start soon, start time will be the end of April. Different suggestions from the PRC for fundraising were given to Jack. He will present to the Village Council on Wednesday, April 6th.

 

 

Minutes:                      Minutes for February 2022 – were approved with motions made by F. Mortimer, L. Kloak second motion. 

 

Joint Meeting

Open Space &

PRC Board:                 R. Brooks expressed the need for the committee to think of alternate property for field/recreational space. Discussions about possible potential areas that can be park space.

 

 

Parks                          Update

 

Kings Pond Park:        N. Bigos – No update.

 

Green Acres

Diversion:                    N. Bigos – No update.

 

Schedler property:      N. Bigos – No update.

 

Health Barn:                N. Bigos reported that a proclamation regarding the process of the “Feed the Front Lines” was read at the last Village Council meeting. There are many programs that are being offered at Healthbarn. The next meeting will be a dinner meeting at the Gatehouse on Tuesday, May 24th with a tour of Habernickel Park.

 

Recreation:                  N. Bigos shared that registration will be open on April 1st for all the summer programs.

Community Center:     N. Bigos reported that Recreation just hosted their first “Seasonal Summer Job Fair”. The event was most successful with a partnership with DECA at RHS.

 

 

 

 

Liaison Reports           Village Council – P. Vagianos

Board of Ed – M. Mahmoud

  • No report - absent

 

Open Space Committee – D. Sayles

  • No report

 

Fields Committee – R. Brooks

  • R. Brooks reported that public comment was made about the field conditions and maintenance in Ridgewood. R. Brooks shared how Vets and Citizens had delayed openings due to field conditions after Flood Ida. Schedules had to be moved around but it worked out.

 

Shade Tree Commission – V. Van Dyke

  • V. Van Dyke reported that she did not receive the Zoom information for the Shade Tree meeting.

 

                                   Community Center Advisory Board – F. Mortimer  

  • F. Mortimer reported that conversations were mainly about Earth Day and Daffodil Day.

 

                                    Green Ridgewood – F. Mortimer

  • No report
