Ridgewood's ACCESS Committee
Meeting Minutes August 17, 2017
The meeting was opened at 7:35pm.
Present: Ines Bunza, Deanna Schablik, Susan Knudsen, Robin Ritter, Jesse Schwartzman, Joanne Van Sant, Erica Dunckley, Amy Stoller, Lisa Gardener, Blair Neville, Paul Aronsohn, Debi Glennon,
Item 1: Welcome
Ines welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Ines reported that she met with Dawn, Heather and Rosemary to research the Stigma Free program. The Community Access Committee agreed that this program would fall under the mission parameters of this committee.
Action Item: The Gold Star program of the Bergen County Sheriff's office was part of the conversation. It was agreed that more research would be done to find out more about the county ID program.
ACCESS Weekend (October 13-15 2017)
Actions Items:
Gail: to contact Bob at Ridgewood Press
Robin- layouts; family events and jester Jim arrangements. There was a short discussion regarding how to place logos for larger support donors, the banks with the rest of the donors. A suggestion was made to use the bank logos as anchors on each side with all the other donors in between
Nancy Riley/Matthew Mandeli: Dance (October 7th)
Erica: food - ask at Burger King and for pizza
Deanna: Senior event
Amy: school events
Ines: Van Dykes and family event
Saturday morning will be story time

Item 2: Housing
Mayor Knudson reported that the public meeting on agreement for the proposed housing would take place on September 14th 2017. The application will be for 15 beds among 7 - 2 bedroom units and 1-1 bedroom unit. The ACCESS Committee was pleased to hear of the progress made toward local housing units.
Item 3: Employment
The committee reviewed the document Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and will consider how to use this information to encourage employers to hire people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Item 4: New Business
Joanne Stolfo will be revitalizing and updating the FaceBook page, she asked if people can send her photos. Joanne S also distributed information for The Magic Flute fundraiser.
Item 5: Old Business
The committee agreed that a thank you letter should be sent to Joe Jackson of Special Olympics for all his work regarding his work with the Basketball Camp. We will present the letter and a certificate of apprectahon to Joe at the Commumty Access Weekend Saturday event.
