DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Village Clerk's Office deals with the following areas: 1. Secretary to the Governing Body and Custodian of Records - Attends Village Council meetings, prepares and reviews minutes of meetings for Village Council's approval. Maintains all Village ordinances and resolutions on file. Handles Open Public Record Act (OPRA) Requests. Takes messages for Councilmembers. 2. Elections - Registers voters, runs all elections, has absentee ballot applications for voters. - Application for Vote by Mail Ballot- Solicitud De Voto Pr Correo 3. Licensing – The Village Clerk's Office performs the licensing of all raffles in the Village of Ridgewood, including tricky trays, casino nights, and 50/50 raffles. In addition, alcoholic beverage licensing including renewals, transfers, and social affair permits for groups and organizations is handled through the Village Clerk's Office. 4. General Liability Claims - The Village Clerk's Office handles the paperwork for claims against the Village. The Insurance Administrator processes and pays or denies all claims, after investigation. 5. Citizen Inquiries and Complaints - The Village Clerk's Office handles general inquiries about the Village of Ridgewood, as well as directing citizen complaints to the proper departments. FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions): Q: How can someone pay a summons? A: A summons can be paid online by accessing njmcdirect.com or in person at the Village Hall on the fourth level. Parking summons cannot be handled via the Online Municipal Court Resolution Portal - it is for only traffic tickets. Effective August 3, 2020 - The public can now ask the municipal prosecutor to review their traffic matters and may be able to resolve their case without having to appear in person, under a recent change to municipal court operations in New Jersey.  The Judiciary’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) program, which started in mid-May in approximately 30 municipal courts, allows court users to dispute a charge and provide information or evidence to municipal prosecutors online. The ODR program applies to 37 traffic offenses, such as speeding, failure to have an insurance card, or failure to yield, where defendants commonly provide additional documentation and seek a reduced charge before pleading guilty.

  Municipal Court sessions are all open to the public  Municipal Court sessions will now be conducted virtually/remotely to minimize exposure to COVID-19. Parks & Shade Tree

Parks & Shade Tree

The mission statement of the Ridgewood Department of Parks and Recreation is to preserve open space and provide facilities and year round recreational activities that meet the needs of all residents. ParksThe Division of Parks is responsible for the maintenance of all Village owned parkland, athletic facilities, planting of flowerbeds (in cooperation with Project Pride) and landscaping throughout the community. In addition, the division is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Graydon Pool facility and grounds as well as all departmental special events throughout the year.  Shade TreeThe Shade Tree Division is responsible for the maintenance and care of approximately 15, 000 Village owned street trees on 100 miles of public ways, as well as additional trees and shrubs in parks and on other public grounds. This includes all aspects, such as removal, planting, and pruning. The Shade Tree Division does a tree planting for Arbor Day, which is usually the last Friday in April. The division currently offers a memorial tree/bench program to honor the memory of a friend or family member.
