SNOW REMINDERS
REMINDERS ABOUT VILLAGE SERVICES AND SNOW
The National Weather Service is predicting significant impacts from a major winter storm Wednesday afternoon/evening into Thursday morning. Heavy snow (8-12 inches), strong winds, and sleet are the main hazards associated with this system. Strong winds, heavy snow and ice have the potential to cause power outages and network damage that could impact power, internet, TV and phone service.
Please keep all cars off of the roads so that our plowing crews can do their work. Overnight parking on the street will not be allowed tonight, Wednesday, December 16th and tomorrow night, Thursday, December 17th. Those who usually park on the 4th floor of the Hudson Street Garage and those parking overnight in the Central Business District should park on the 2nd Floor of the Hudson Street Garage so that streets and parking lots can be cleared of snow.
REMINDERS ABOUT GARBAGE PICKUP DURING SNOW EVENTS
Our sanitation and recycling employees will be picking up garbage and recycling, as long as the road conditions permit them to do so. All garbage and recycling containers must be placed at the end of your driveways, and not in the street, on December 17th and December 18th. The Village will resume rear yard garbage collection as quickly as possible after the snowstorm, but please continue to place your garbage cans at the end of your driveway, until you have a clear path to them. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our Village employees safe.
REMINDERS ABOUT SNOW REMOVAL
All sidewalks in residential districts must be cleared within 24 hours of the snow falling. Please do not place snow into the street; instead, place it back onto your own property. In addition, if you have a fire hydrant on your property, please clear it of any snow accumulation.
POWER OUTAGES
Due to icy conditions, there may be power outages. Please stay away from downed wires. Plan ahead and know where your flashlights are located. If you experience a power outage, please do not call the Police Department unless there is an emergency. Instead, please call PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-7734. You may also report your power outage and check the status with PSE&G’s mobile app or by visiting pseg.com/outagecenter.
