PETITIONS AVAILABLE TO FILL UNEXPIRED TERM ON VILLAGE COUNCIL

Due to the resignation of Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh, her unexpired 3-year term will be voted on at the November 2, 2021 General Election.  Candidate petitions are available in the Village Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   A minimum of 197 valid Nominating Petitions must be filed to secure a place on the ballot.  Each Petition must be signed by one registered voter of the Village of Ridgewood at the time the voter signs, and each voter may only sign one petition. Petitions must be filed in the Office of the Village Clerk before 4:00 P.M. on Monday, August 30, 2021.

Electronic petitions and electronic signatures on petitions are no longer accepted, due to the fact the acceptance of electronic petitions was depending upon the continuing of the Public Health Emergency.  The Public Health Emergency was terminated on July 16, 2021 through Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 244, which also terminated the authority allowing for electronic petitions and electronic signatures on petitions.

Any questions regarding the petition or election procedures should be directed to Eileen Young, Deputy Village Clerk, at 201-670-5500 ext. 205 or Heather Mailander, Village Manager/Village Clerk, at 201-670-5500 ext. 202.
