Senior Bus Cancelled March 14

Due to severe weather conditions the Senior Bus will be cancelled Tuesday, March 14.  tthe Senior Bus will resume it's schedule on Thursday, March 16.

All Village offices and the Library will be closed on March 14th, due to the impending snow storm.  The Police Department, on the 2nd floor of Village Hall, will remain open. 


The Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting scheduled for March 14th has been cancelled due to the impending blizzard. 


 

Due to the impending blizzard, there will be no recycling or garbage pickup and the Recycling Center will be closed on March 14th.  There will also be no curbside bulk pickup on March 15th.  In addition, in order to keep our Village employees safe, all garbage must be taken to the end of your driveway (not in the street) through March 17th.  Backyard collection of garbage will resume on March 20th, weather permitting.  All vehicles must be removed from the roadways and overnight parking of vehicles on the streets will not be permitted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, which will be strictly enforced.  Please do not travel so that the roadways are kept clear for our crews, which will allow them to do their work in cleaning up the snow.  If you lose power, please call PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-7734.  Please check on your neighbors and the elderly, and stay safe.


 

BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT TUESDAY NIGHT

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning, which is in effect from midnight tonight to midnight Tuesday night.

* Hazard Types...Heavy Snow and Blizzard Conditions.

* Snow Accumulations...18 to 24 inches.

* Snowfall Rates...2 to 4 inches per hour early Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon.

* Timing...Late Tonight through Tuesday evening.

* Impacts...Dangerous travel due to whiteout conditions at times. Several roads may become   impassable. Power outages possible.

* Winds...Northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph on Tuesday.

* Temperatures...In the mid 20s. * Visibilities...One quarter mile or less at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.

Preparing for the Winter Storm

PSE&G is preparing for the approaching storm predicted to bring heavy snow and strong winds to the Northeast on Tuesday. Snow and high winds can bring down trees and power lines. We take every storm with the potential for outages seriously, and we have additional personnel and auxiliary equipment ready.

We also have extra personnel to respond as quickly as possible to emergency requests. Both PSE&G's call centers and appliance service department are prepared to respond to customer "no heat" calls as temperatures remain low during the next several days.

Be safe:

Downed wires should always be considered "live." Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with. To report downed wires call 1-800-436-PSEG.
To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run any gasoline powered engine, including generators and snow blowers, in a garage or any other enclosed space.

PSE&G Prepares for Wintry Weather

Extra personnel and equipment at the ready

(NEWARK, N.J. – Feb. 7, 2016) Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest electric and gas utility, is preparing for the wintry weather forecasted to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday.

"Based on the forecast, we will quickly go from record warmth on Wednesday to six to eight inches of heavy, wet snow that can weigh down trees and bring down power lines,” said John Latka, senior vice president of electric and gas operations for PSE&G. “We have additional personnel scheduled and on standby, with extra tree crews and equipment at the ready. We’re prepared for whatever the storm brings our way.”

In advance of the storm, PSE&G advises customers to prepare an emergency kit that includes:

    • Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days
    • Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
    • Battery-powered or hand crank radio
    • Flashlight and extra batteries
    • First aid kit
    • Manual can opener for food
    • Cell phone with chargers

PSE&G urges its customers to be cautious during and after the storm:

    • To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run any gasoline powered engine, including generators and snowblowers, in a garage or any other enclosed space.
    • Downed wires should always be considered “live.” Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with.

Dear Resident

There are several projects and services I want to share with you...

  1. Traffic Alert – Starting Monday, January 16th PSEG will be working on Broad Street to upgrade the service in Ridgewood.Construction activities include the installation of manholes and underground pipe.The work will be done from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for approximately 3 months, weather permitting.Paving will take place after the 3-month construction period.Police will monitor the traffic but please try to plan alternate routes in order to avoid the traffic congestion in the construction area.
  2. 2017 Annual Parking Permits – Annual Resident, Non-resident and CBD employee parking permits are available for purchase at Village Hall.Driver’s License and car registration are required to apply for all parking permits.The Annual Parking Permits for residents which are available, cost $750 annually, and it allows residents to park in the Chestnut, North Walnut, and Cottage parking lots.We have reached our current capacity for the $1,000 Premium Permits, but you may call the Receptionist at 201-670-5500 ext. 200 to put your name on a waiting list for these permits, as new commuter parking spaces become available.
  3. New in 2017 – “Shopper/Diner” parking spots are available in the Hudson, Prospect and Chestnut Lots.These parking spaces are marked with white signs and arrows, and commuter parking will not be allowed in these parking spaces.
  4. Christmas trees are still being picked up on both the east and west side of the Village each week.Please place them on your curb, and not into the street.
  5. Snow and Ice Reminder – When there is snow and ice forecast, please assist us by placing your garbage cans at the end of your driveway, by the curb, but not in the street.This will ensure that our employees are able to safely pick up your solid waste. Additionally please remember to clear your sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfall.This is especially important on school walking routes, but is required in all residential zones.
  6. In observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Village Hall and The Stable offices will be closed on Monday, January 16th There will be no sanitation or recycling pick up on that day.
