RIDGEWOOD ARTS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 9, 2018

Present: Audrey Fink, Rosie McCooe, Dana Glazer, Frank Delvecchio, Kathleen Jordan, Michael Walsh, Bernadette Walsh

Absent: Bill Carbone, Sean Flanagan, Sherry Frank, Lynn Kenney

New Business:

Grants

Millennium Strategies (Nealon Issacs) has been hired by the village
They called Audrey about interest in “The Big Read” NEA grant
His questions pointed toward grant, book and events
Millennium has been hired to lookout for grants for all village entities
Frank will be liaison with Millennium
Dana will contact Nancy Greene from the library to see if they are working on another reading program or if they are interested in working with the RAC
Bernie will check on how committees are using consultant
Bernie will present NEA Artworks grants to Heather

Fundraising

Evening Social: Band event at local restaurant-could charge a cover and the owner could then make donation to RAC/Frank will talk to Steel Wheel about hosting event
Art of Motion: they came to use with a plea for art to be displayed during one of their performances in February. Would be short term display, RAC would be responsible for set up, display, and take down, the idea was not well thought out and RAC not sure how to proceed

Performing Arts Center: not much to discuss as RAC has no money, talk of Pease library becoming available

Thought of the Month: How to repurpose the iconic tree at Graydon Pool that will be cut down shortly, call for artists to design artwork from tree trunk.
