Stigma Free Meeting Minutes 11/15/2022

  • The meeting began at 3:03 PM
  • Introductions were made to our two guests, Corinne Scarpa and Michael
  • Michael Kilcullen works for the Ridgewood public school district and the 18-21 year old transition program for those on the spectrum to prepare them for graduation
  • Corinne Scarpa is with New Bridge Medical Center
  • Danielle Pagani discussed the senior fair success
  • COVID, Flu, and Monkeypox resources are available if anyone needs to reach out to the Ridgewood Health Department for more information
  • Cards of Joy is beginning again for the seasons. Boxes and locations are in discussion. Boxes will be ready by the end of this week and Danielle will share the flyer after the meeting. It will be promoted with schools, residents, etc… We are thinking the pick up date will be the week of December 12th
  • Jan Botcher discussed the Unitarian Society coffee hour to take place on December 4 and they will have Danielle and Surbhi there. They will be doing Cards of Joy as a congregation wide initiative
  • Gabrielle Mianli discussed Instagram live on Tuesday at 2 pm next week and a book give away which occurs monthly. They want to start group sessions and want to know what needs there are in our community. She discussed a survey or discussing it with Dan Kilday. Sheila Borgan raised the idea to have the Village of Ridgewood produce the survey not the school district because of strict regulations and invite the entire community to participate. She also discussed life during COVID vs “new normal”.
  • Mary Davey discussed how people are still reluctant to be in a large group
  • Haley Contino discussed Mental Health First Aid tomorrow, 11/16 for adults and December 14 for youth. She discussed last month there was a suicide prevention training that was offered to all the schools in the county. A county wide meeting for Stigma Free approved the Stigma Free symposium for next year in person
  • Michael Kilcullen discussed how the students in the transition program love volunteering, they enjoy making and distributing flyers, setting up for events such as the annual garage sale, making cards, etc..
  • Sheila discussed the elder dinner was 73 participants for Turkey Dinner at Old Paramus Church
  • Sheila requested flyers be shared as JPEG for easier sharing capability
  • COVID 19 and caregiving workshop in December with Alzheimer’s society
  • Dec 6- Medicare 101 with Sheila and Ridgewood Library
  • If you want to be a mailbox location Danielle needs to know by end of day tomorrow, 11/15/22
  • The meeting ended at 3:41 PM
