Ridgewood Fields Committee Meeting Minutes

April 4, 2023 – 7:00 am 2nd floor Conference Room, BOE Center/ ZOOM

 Attendees:  K. Cook, R. Brooks, P. Thomas, E. Seavers, M. Andreula, B. Lynch, S. Cox, S. Winograd,

 B. Lasky, A. Mamudi , H. Kwak, D. Loren, C. Aderhold, N. Bigos, M. Hefferan

 

I.                        Approval of Minutes – March 7, 2023

 

II.                        Public Comment

D. Lauren- Have not had a response for dates requested for KGV soccer.

S. Cox- We have asked the scheduler for dates and have not had a response. Still working on getting dates.

III.                        Field Policy Amendment/Lighting

K.Cook, N. Bigos, E. Seavers, J. Gluck, R. Brooks-Working on an update to the field policy regarding the time schedule for lights on Stadium Field, Stevens Field that will now include Maple Park turf fields.

IV.                        Spring Facility Maintenance

M. Andreula- Broadleaf spraying April 7. Monday, April 10 the turf field at Maple Park will be groomed. Gmax texting will also be done at this time. Another grooming at Maple Park on September 19 for the fall. Clay has been aerated at all baseball fields to remove compaction. Irrigation contract begins spring maintenance on April 4.

V.                        Master Library/Update

N. Bigos- All fields, Stable, Village Hall rooms have been added. Waiting for Master Library to complete administrative updating their end.

K. Cook-Asked if there is a way to integrate the systems to show if someone has applied for both a REC and BOE field.

VI.                        Schedler Property/Update

S. Winograd- Three designs of the park layout were discussed, they are moving forward with the full size turf field. Peter Primavera was hired as a consultant to help navigate SHPO approval. Consultant will work with the Village attorney and engineer on the project. Hopefully, once the playground is in place it will help clear the diversion that will then open up a pipeline for Green Acres funds that can be used for other park projects.

VII.                        New Business

B. Lasky- Open Space Master Plan will be discussing the future needs for fields. What would be the ideal amount of fields required for use by residents of the Village as determined by the youth and adult sport groups?

N. Bigos- The combined meeting of PRC Board and Open Space Committee will be held April 25th at 7:30 in the Community Center Youth Lounge. The Master Plan will be discussed and is open to the public.

D. Lauren-The need for adult recreation should be included in the discussion and going forward adult recreation should be added to the field policy.

B. Lynch-LAX Day is Sunday, April 30th -Last Sunday in April.

K. Cook-New football head coach will be announced at the next BOE meeting.
